Ambetter Health Insurance lawsuit

Wexler Boley & Elgersma is currently investigating claims that Illinois residents were misled into purchasing Ambetter Health Insurance plans (“Ambetter”) based upon misrepresentations of the number, location, and existence of their in-network providers. If you purchased such a plan believing you had access to a provider when, in fact, you did not, contact Wexler Boley & Elgersma for information on whether you have a claim for damages or other relief.

When Congress enacted the Affordable Care Act (ACA), it included a requirement that every state have an exchange where customers can purchase individual health insurance policies. The ACA also mandates that plans maintain a network that is sufficient in number and types of providers.

Centene is one of the largest Health Insurance Marketplace carriers in the United States, and its Ambetter suite of insurance plans are offered to Illinois residents as an option under the ACA.  Ambetter plans are marketed with the core message that quality healthcare is best delivered locally and it posts an extensive list of in-network providers who supposedly accept Ambetter insurance.  But many customers in states covered by Ambetter (including Illinois) have learned only after paying for the insurance that the universe of local physicians and health care providers who actually accept Ambetter is significantly smaller than represented. In some cases, customers have alleged that Centene falsifies its list of in-network Ambetter providers, deceiving them into thinking that, with Ambetter health insurance, they can continue seeing their regular doctor when, in fact, they cannot.

If you are an Illinois resident who purchased an Ambetter insurance policy and believe you were deceived about the abundance of local healthcare providers, Contact Wexler Boley & Elgersma today to discuss whether you have a claim.
