Electrolux Moldy Washing Machine Litigation
Court: United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida
Robert Brown, et al v. Electrolux Home Products, Inc., Case No.: 08-cv-00030 (S.D. Ga.); Waters et al v. Electrolux Home Products, Inc.13-cv-00151 (N.D. W. Va.); Grasso et al v. Electrolux Home Products, Inc.16-cv-00911 (M.D. Fla.)
Along with co-counsel, Wexler Boley & Elgersma is prosecuting three different class actions against Electrolux Home Products, Inc., alleging that certain models of their front-loading washing machines (including Frigidaire and Electrolux-branded machines) contained a defect which allows mold, mildew, and “biofilm” to grow inside the machines. The “biofilm” produces a noxious odor that permeates the washing machines, as well as consumers’ clothing and homes. Although plaintiffs allege that they and class members have spent money on repairs and other purported remedies, none have eliminated the odor problems or “biofilm” growth. The three cases are brought on behalf of consumers in California, Texas, Florida, and Ohio and are currently ongoing.
